Vitamin K2

The vitamin for blood clotting & healthy bones

Vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin found in fermented foods like natto (fermented soybeans) and produced by gut bacteria. The most bioavailable form is MK7 all-trans. It promotes calcium absorption and can thus contribute to healthy bones. Furthermore, vitamin K2 is involved in the carboxylation process of certain proteins that regulate the transport and storage of calcium in various tissues. In combination with vitamin D, K2 therefore influences the physiological distribution of calcium in the body. It is also an important micronutrient for longevity, as it supports blood clotting and smooth blood flow, which is a crucial factor for cardiovascular health.
